Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) form the backbone of Tamil Nadu’s economy. They are a driving force of employment generation, innovation, and regional development. Recognising their potential and addressing their challenges, the Government of Tamil Nadu established FaMe TN (Facilitating Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises in Tamil Nadu), formerly known as the MSME Trade and Investment Promotion Bureau, in September 2019.

Since its inception, FaMe TN has been committed to strengthening the MSME ecosystem by providing access to finance, facilitating technology adoption, and creating opportunities in both domestic and global markets.

Vision and Mission

FaMe TN’s mission is to empower Tamil Nadu’s MSMEs to compete effectively in a rapidly evolving global economy. Its work is grounded in three core pillars:

  • Facilitating finance by connecting MSMEs with credit, subsidies, and government support schemes.
  • Promoting technology adoption to enable enterprises to innovate, modernise, and stay competitive.
  • Enhancing market access by linking MSMEs with buyers, investors, and international trade platforms.

Through these efforts, FaMe TN envisions Tamil Nadu as a globally recognised hub for thriving MSMEs.

Key Initiatives

FaMe 360

One of FaMe TN’s flagship initiatives, FaMe 360, is a district-wise programme that organises workshops, awareness sessions, and training across Tamil Nadu. These sessions focus on helping entrepreneurs acquire practical knowledge in areas such as business strategy, technology implementation, and financial management.

Reverse Buyer–Seller Meets (RBSMs)

To strengthen market linkages, FaMe TN has organised Reverse Buyer–Seller Meets (RBSMs) that connect MSMEs directly with buyers. A recent RBSM, held on 31 January 2025 at the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex in Coimbatore, showcased success stories under the theme “Voice of MSMEs.” The event provided enterprises with opportunities to build networks and expand their market presence.

Digital Outreach

FaMe TN has established a strong digital presence to ensure that knowledge and opportunities reach entrepreneurs across the state.

  • Instagram and Facebook: Sharing updates, success stories, and guidance on crucial processes like UDYAM registration.
  • YouTube: Hosting content under the mission “Catapulting Tamil Nadu MSMEs to the Global Stage.”
  • LinkedIn: Showcasing initiatives, partnerships, and thought leadership to a professional audience.

Through these channels, FaMe TN is not only increasing awareness but also creating a sense of community among Tamil Nadu’s entrepreneurs.

Impact on Tamil Nadu’s Entrepreneurs

By combining skill-building programmes, digital outreach, and international trade linkages, FaMe TN has emerged as a vital enabler of growth for MSMEs. Entrepreneurs benefit through:

  • Easier access to finance and government schemes.
  • Knowledge on technology and innovation practices.
  • Networking opportunities with domestic and international buyers.
  • Visibility for their products and services in competitive markets.

Conclusion

MSMEs are not merely business entities; they are engines of economic progress and social development. FaMe TN, with its holistic approach to finance, technology, and trade, has positioned itself as a strategic partner in Tamil Nadu’s journey towards inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

By empowering small businesses to scale, innovate, and compete globally, FaMe TN is ensuring that Tamil Nadu’s MSMEs remain resilient and future-ready.
